“Be careful, don’t overexert yourself, and don’t wander too far. Go.” Kodlak’s words invoked an acute sense of gratefulness in Leona. She bounded off, careful to stay where he could see her. It wasn’t long before she caught a hare and tore back with it, dropping it and ripping the back legs off, offering them to Kodlak. She couldn’t contain herself and dug into the hare, caring not for the meat but for its blood. She sucked the metallic red liquid from its veins, sighing in relief as the smell filled her nares, and looked up to Kodlak. “This is going to be quite an adjustment. I think I’m going to roll in blood. No; bathe in it. How does anyone ever survive this? I think I’m going to need gallons of blood.” She sighed. “Do you ever get that feeling? I mean, after the onset of vampirism. Do you still get it?” Leona wondered. This was interesting. She wondered how her father would take the news that she was a vampire now and had found her soulmate.
“No there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do; to make you feel my love.”
