8 years, and got us into the mostly costly conflict, and saddled with the most debt, that this country has ever seen. Suddenly, fed up with the consequences of nearly a decade of Republican rule, Americans flipped the Senate and House, and elected the first black US President. A month later, the Tea Party started.
