The Sindri kappa broke from her rounds when she heard the Mad Queen coming her way, rambling. No nobody, it seemed like, and Sydney wanted to get far away. Athena’d already cornered a sigma, the shy Elise, and gave her a fright as well as a scratch or two. Sydney, with all of her absence from the rest of the pack, had seen signs of rebellion from Elise’s twin sister, Swallowtail. But this incident, barely two days ago, had surely tipped the scale, because the threats Swallowtail gave the queen were even more potent than her looks of warning whenever the queen got anywhere close to her children. The pretty Elemental had apparently caught the queen scaring the princesses and prince or something. Now, she was keeping an eye on them all the time, especially when the Mad Queen was near them.
Sydney’s flight took her to the Firefly Forest, where she noticed a bunch of fireflies flying. It was so pretty she had to stop. But as soon as she did, lost in the beauty, she fainted, her legs gracefully crumpling.
