Vaughn’s days were filled with hope for his daughter-Leona. It seemed she’d found a soulmate, a Hawthorne boy Kodlak. Brother to the Vampire Queen. Or maybe son? He couldn’t remember which.
As he traveled to the forest he’d heard so, so much about, he pondered on whether he was okay with Leona and Kodlak. He couldn’t protect his darling girl forever, he knew. So she had to make her own choices, and she was more than capable of choosing a man.
It wasn’t long before he was standing in front of the forest, marveling. He could see glints of fireflies inside, but-a wolf. Passed out, of owl wings like his own. “Hello?” he called, running to the man. “Are you alright-” As he approached the fainted figure he stepped on a stone, and the jolt of pain sent him plummeting. He felt when he hit the grass, but he wasn’t conscious for more than a second after that.
“And a place in my heart, will always be hers”
