Misty wasn’t really sure how things would go with Apollo. She hoped they could make it work. Soulmate ties sounded lovely, but so did a mate. Their vanishing soulmate line was merely a mystery.
She had heard tales of the forest that shone with fireflies even in the darkest of hours, the coldest of months-and she wanted to go find them. Misty’s paws took her right next door; the forest did, after all, border Sabertooth. She gazed starry-eyed at the lights before actually going in.
But a little bit in, Misty’s mood turned anxious, for every few minutes at least, she happened upon an unconscious wolf. She saw Amalthea; she saw Aphrodite, one of Aurora’s daughters-and Aurora herself. Wolves from Dawnshire, Nightingale, Tarben. Misty turned back, dashing toward Sabertooth. But halfway there, she stumbled and fell. That was when she was consumed by the magic.
“We are searchlights, we can see in the dark.”
