The luna moth was worried about her teenage daughters, Seraphina and Wraith. Seraphina hated her, and she was worried that Wraith was so flirtatious, but she supposed she was smart enough not to get herself into trouble. Dawnshire was a perfect home for Nadia and her girls, if only Sera wasn’t so . . . cruel. She was a realist, and Nadia could respect that, but she was so cold and Nadia thought that she found everything disappointing. Nadia’s daughters knew she had lost a brother and two sisters in the war, and she might as well have lost her parents, her other sisters, and the man who had fathered Sera and Wraith. Not that she had ever loved him.
Seraphina thought Nadia a scared, weak woman. Nadia didn’t know why. She was kind, yes, and loved her children. She had come to love her pack. But that didn’t merit Sera’s opinion.
She stepped into Firefly Forest, breathing out in awe at all the bugs that zoomed around, alighting on trees and soil. She was careful not to step on them.
She avoided the glowing stones too. Those were strange, and she could bet anything that magic was in the air tonight, here.
She didn’t realize that the magic had seized her, and when she would wake up, she wouldn’t remember falling asleep.
