Her eyes stayed on her paws as the Goddess wept for her heartache. Something she hadn't been able to do for quite some time. Her heart had yet to heal from everything traumatic, all because she refused to let herself feel the emotions she needed to feel. Her addictions had fed her for the time being, then her children had become too important for her to waste time crying. But now, she felt like she had lost it all. As Remus moved to sit beside her, she felt her lungs freeze with air inside them. She quickly exhaled, not able to hold it with a sob. “Oh, no. I’m not the type to string others along. And I’m very sorry for your strife. It seems harsh, to lose all your children that way. And as for your mate, if he really did leave you for some stupid reason, as opposed to dying . . . I’d say he isn’t the right one for you. Artemis, I truly don’t wish to cause you harm. If you like, I can leave.”
She looked to him, the snowy lass had tears still streaming from her eyes but she looked to meet his almost golden gaze with her icy blue eyes. Why did he strangely look like Justice . . . Why did it have to be like Justice? She knew it was not him, but she felt safer looking at him now. This one wanted to stay it seemed at least. That would be something she'd have to see to believe, but she felt like she could trust him. "Please, stay." She said, just above a whisper. "I always wanted to be a mother, and I wasn't the best to them because of how much they looked like him. I regret it every day." She said softly, her head turning to the pyres. That was when she saw them, the three of them. She rose to her feet quickly, a gasp escaping her jaws. "We don't blame you, mother. You did the best you could." The tears kept rolling from her eyes as she heard Kaleidoscope's words. How was she seeing them?
"Father was sick after he left, he's at peace now. He's not in Starfall, but he's surely gone now." Zero spoke. So Justice was dead. "Thank you for bringing us to our new home with you and giving us these flowers and berries. They're beautiful mother. But you need to move forward, do more with your life than tend to the dead. We love you." Mayfire spoke before they faded out one by one. Artemis still stood. "My children . . . I love you too . . ." She said in a whisper. Her eyes shut as she once more fell to the ground beside Remus. "I saw them. They were here. I got to say goodbye." She said with tears still coming from her eyes. Yet, she was smiling. She looked to Remus. "They did not resent me, they wish for me to carry on with my life." She said happily, her smile grew larger as more tears fell with every blink.
Walk, "Talk", Think.
