those are the NBA guys so they're rare and hard to get, but that's what unlocks it. you can play 5 out and still pressure the ball on D.
given the rarity of that skillset, I think i'd rather take my chances with 4 out and an athletic hedging/rim protecting big, but if tomi comes back that obviously won't be us next year.

I think we’ve seen it’s very replicable on offense. And Hansbrough is wrong there—it’s not just about launching threes but eliminating the midrange. And we saw this year how much space playing 5 out creates at the rim. But I don’t know if it works defensively. You can’t defend at a high level only playing drop. Is there a single elite team that plays drop defense? Everyone runs a ball pressure defense with a hedge or trap and rotation. Underwood cites Alabama all the time as who we want to be on offense, but they run a ball pressure defense.
I think I agree with both hansbrough and vecenie. it's the right NBA analytics. i'm not positive it's the right college analytics. but you probably still have to try anyway. and if you try, you will probably lose the morez's of the world to teams willing to play differently. and those teams willing to play differently can still win in college because most teams trying to win the first way probably won't end up with enough defensive athleticism.
