I’m with you on being happy he’s back. But a 6’6” guy at the 4 isn’t exactly positional size that Archived Message

Underwood supposedly craves. I just wish we’d hang our hat somewhere in terms of roster building. And I really like the positional size thing.

1) To start with, myself and many others have lamented the lack of continuity and connection with players in this era. And in that spirit, it would be really hypocritical of me to not be happy about this. So I am, he’s a guy I enjoyed when he played here and look forward to him sticking around.
2) I’m sure that him sitting out a year when fully healthy after not making a single jumpshot the entire season prior while playing starter minutes (not hyperbole) limited his options quite a bit. But that limitation of options also results in having to take a more realistic NIL deal that could get us a useful player at a fair price.
3) I do think the TA as boogeyman portrayal was overblown, and stuff like the the Ant Wright tweets about him sabotaging us behind the scenes were probably pure fiction. Especially since it seems like he might not even be looking to coach this season. That being said, if one was trying to orchestrate the best financial deals for his 3 guys (Morez, Tre, Ty), this would be how you’d want it to play out. Morez gets a big pay day elsewhere because he had the highest demand, Ty then gets to shop himself for a good pay day, and with those 2 leaving Ty had more leverage to get a deal from Illinois.
4) There is and will be a lot of talk that we’re trying to get a bigger name option to be the starting 4, but if I was a betting man I’d say that Ty is your starting 4 man next November. The Big Z thing does seem real now that Morez is gone but there’s just no way you can start him and Tomi next to each other IMO. Needs to be a rotation with them.
